There is wide evidence suggesting an elevated prevalence of oral diseases and dental conditions in older Australians. This module on oral and dental care will help learners to address oral health issues at their service and to improve the oral health status of older Australians in their care. They will gain knowledge on the common oral and dental diseases/conditions and their impacts on the quality of life. They will also learn oral care strategies to overcome barriers to oral care to ensure your own safety, and the consumer's comfort. Learners will be provided with various preventive measures to avoid the onset or worsening of oral and dental diseases and ways to maintain adequate oral hygiene in older people.
